AI search
How the engines behind AI answers pick the pages they cite, how this site is built for them, and how citations get measured.

Research 1
- Terms
Canonical definitions for the Machine Behavior program's vocabulary: layered symptom substitution, the fawn machine, vestige, waste gate, behavioral momentum, cold start, working-man's ontology, earned-secure model.
Inside 4
- AIEO
AI engine optimisation (AIEO, also called AEO or GEO): what Google, Bing, OpenAI, Perplexity and Anthropic document about which pages their AI answers retrieve and cite, quoted from their own pages, and the boundary this site keeps.
- This site
Each AI search lever on machinebehavior.io as a receipt: what the site does, which engine documents reading it (or no primary source), and where to check it. Crawl access, sitemap, canonicals, IndexNow, static HTML, JSON-LD, llms.txt, the link graph, Open Graph images and answer-first pages.
- Measurement
How AI search citations of machinebehavior.io can be measured: the Search Console Generative AI performance report, Bing Webmaster Tools AI Performance and a Perplexity API probe. What each one counts, what it leaves out, and the status of each on this site. No baseline is published until a run exists.
- Map
Stefan Coetzee's published work as a graph: every page on machinebehavior.io, tychat.io and uncovertechtalent.com, the Substack posts, repos and threads, and the links between them.

- ADR-0027: Structured data on every page from the navigation sourceEvery page carries one JSON-LD graph written by the chrome, for entity understanding (no claim that it drives AI citations): Stefan Coetzee as Person and author, the site as WebSite with its search, the page as Article, TechArticle, CollectionPage or WebPage with its dates, a BreadcrumbList, and DefinedTermSet on the two pages that define terms. The build fails on invalid JSON-LD.
Tickets 1
Issues on the board, open first, as of the last build.
